Steve March-Tormé

Mel Tormé, celebrated as one of the greatest jazz singers ever, was a true renaissance musician—excelling as a drummer, songwriter, and arranger. Revered by peers throughout his 60-year career, Tormé left an indelible mark on music. In 2025, to honor what would be Mel’s 100th birthday, his son Steve March-Tormé—an exceptional singer in his own right—presents “Tormé Sings Tormé – The Platinum Tour.” This dynamic show, featuring a ten-piece band, revisits classic arrangements by Mel and Marty Paich, including hits like “The Christmas Song,” celebrating its 80th anniversary. Steve weaves personal stories and insights into the performance, with an optional video presentation. A scaled-down version with a quartet is also available, but the full band experience captures the true essence of Mel’s legacy.

What people are saying…

“I had forgotten how wonderful falling in love was until last Friday night, when I attended the Steve March-Torme performance at the Cabaret Jazz Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s worth coming to Las Vegas just to see him and his musical jazz band. Because you will surely “fall in love.” The stage lights grew brighter and with an unassuming gesture to the band … BAM BAM BAM the evening took off the ground never to land until after the last standing ovation.”

“March-Tormé performs the lovely Kern-Hammerstein song ‘The folks who live on the hill’ beautifully – on his own terms . . . and he segues from a wistful ‘The way you look tonight’ to a ferociously swinging ‘Lover come back to me’. TOM VALLANCE/CLASSICAL SOURCE.COM LONDON
Steve’s bandstand presence is full-on in that uniquely American way; he’s out front, moves well and looks smart, leaving nothing to chance. At the snap of a finger, he turned this colourful room into Las Vegas at show-time before moderating the tempo and making it the most intimate space in town. In the language of show business, he’s a class act. He’ll be back
again, that’s for sure.
